Last week, cultural leaders, educators, and history advocates gathered in Philadelphia for the 48th Annual Association of African American Museums (AAAM) Conference, and Discovering Amistad was honored to participate!

Our Executive Director, Paula Mann-Agnew, attended this sold-out, historic gathering to connect with national leaders, exchange ideas, and celebrate the transformative power of Black history and culture.

This year’s theme—“This Land Holds Our Stories: Celebrating America 250, and 100 Years of Negro History Week, We’re Still Making America Whole”—resonated profoundly with our mission at Discovering Amistad. Through dynamic panel discussions, collaborative sessions, and networking events hosted alongside The African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP), the conference underscored the importance of using history as a catalyst for social justice, youth empowerment, and community engagement.
